Mumbai , April 30 : Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor died in a Mumbai hospital on Thursday, his brother Randhir Kapoor said. He was 67.
“He is no more. He has passed away,” Randhir told PTI.
Rishi, who was suffering from cancer, was taken to the H N Reliance hospital by his family on Wednesday.
The actor returned to India last September after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year.
In February, he was hospitalised twice.

PTI reported Wednesday that Kapoor’s family had taken him to hospital after he complained of breathing problem.
“He is in the hospital. He is suffering from cancer and he has some breathing problem, so he has been admitted to the hospital. He is stable now,” PTI had quoted Randhir as saying.
The actor returned to India in September last year after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year.
He was hospitalised twice in February this year due to health issues.
Kapoor was first admitted to a hospital in Delhi where he was attending a family function. At the time, Kapoor had said that he was suffering from an “infection”.
After his return to Mumbai, he was again admitted to a hospital with viral fever. He was discharged soon after.
Kapoor, who used to be active on social media, but did not post anything on his Twitter account since 2 April.
His last post was an appeal to the people of India to not resort to violence against essential service providers such as doctors and policemen during the Covid-19 pandemic. “We have to win this Coronavirus war together,” he tweeted on 2 April.

Born to Raj and Krishna Raj Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor made his debut as a child actor in his father’s Mera Naam Joker (1970) and as an adult, opposite Dimple Kapadia in the 1973 smash hit Bobby. He gained a fan following as a chocolate-boy heartthrob even though many of his films weren’t successful.
He is survived by wife Neetu Kapoor, son Ranbir and daughter Riddhima Kapoor.
