Shillong(Meghalaya) ,April 29: Police have registered a case against the daughter of an IPS officer for unauthorised driving of an official police vehicle and negligent driving on the night of April 25.
According to a police statement , Phoebe Dale Smith Nongrum (31) who is a resident of Pohkseh here has been charged “under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Motor Vehicles Act”.
Police said that a case against her was registered as Laitumkhrah PS Case Number 70 (04) 2020.
It may be mentioned that Nongrum is the daughter of Deputy Inspector General of Police (Security), Onesimus Pasi.
Nongrum was detained by volunteers of Malki locality for allegedly driving a police vehicle, which reportedly belonged to her father, on the night of April 25 during lockdown hours besides hitting another vehicle.
Following the incident, she was taken to the Laitumkhrah Police Station, where she ranted at the officer-in-charge of the police station.
A video which has gone viral in the social media showed Nongrum abusing the police officer at the police station.
Nongrum is a prominent circuit racer and had taken part in the Formula LGB 4 women’s team in the past. She was also part of a professional racing team, the Ahura racing.
