Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 8: The Meghalaya State League 2024 is set to witness an electrifying quarterfinal clash between Shillong Lajong and defending champions Rangdajied United at the Wahiajer Sports Complex tomorrow. The match kicks off at 1 pm.
After a brief pause in November for the state men’s football team to prepare for the Santosh Trophy, the marquee event of the Meghalaya Football Association is back with a bang. This year’s edition introduces a quarterfinal round for the first time, aiming to broaden the league and intensify competition.
Shillong Lajong and Rangdajied United, two football powerhouses in Meghalaya, secured their quarterfinal berths by winning their respective groups. While Rangdajied United started slow in Group D, they rebounded with two convincing victories to top the group. Shillong Lajong, on the other hand, dominated Group E with three consecutive wins.
