Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 8: Defending champions Mawlai SC continued their winning streak in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024 with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Langsning FC at the First Ground, Polo, here.
The match saw a intense battle between the two teams, with Langsning frustrating the leaders for over an hour. However, Khrawkupar Jana’s decisive goal in the 70th minute sealed the win for Mawlai SC.
This victory takes Mawlai to 19 points from seven games, maintaining their three-point lead over second-placed Shillong Lajong. Langsning FC remains in eighth spot with 7 points.
The match began with Langsning creating the first scoring opportunity, but Daohipaia Rymbai’s shot was blocked by Mawlai’s goalkeeper Lambhamiki Lamare. Despite Mawlai’s dominance, Langsning’s defense held strong until Jana’s late winner.
