Kokrajhar ( Assam) ,Feb 5: With just a day has left for PM Modi’s visit here on Feb 7 , to participate in the celebrations to mark the signing of the third Bodo Accord preparations are going in full swing to give him a befitting welcome in a traditional Bodo style .
The celebration will be held at Jangkhritai Pwthar near flyover here in an covering 45 lakhs square feet bighas of land to accommodate over 5 lakh people who are expected to participate in the celebrations . Already a local public holiday has been declared on that day in all the districts of BTAD to enable people to participate in the celebrations .
Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal,state finance minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, minister of state Piyush Hazarika and DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta today reviewed the preparations and progress in Kokrajhar . The venue area is being monitored by security forces round the clock .
BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary,Assam minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary as well Bodo accord signatories also visited the venue today to take stock of the preparations and arrangements.
CM Sonowal said that arrangements have been made and strict vigil is being kept in the area by security forces . He appealed to all sections of the society to participate in the grand celebration on Feb 7 .
“It is the love of PM Modi for the people of Assam and Bodoland region that he has decided to be in the midst of the celebrations on the historic day “, Sonowal added .
Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said that deployment of security forces and officials at venue site has already been completed.
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary said that around 5 to 6 lakhs people will witness the programme where PM Modi would participate .
ABSU president Pramod Boro,who is also one of signatories of the BTR accord said PM Modis visit has been confirmed and necessary arrangements are complete .
He was hopeful that the centre and state government would make proper implementation of the clauses of the BTR accord in the days to come.
