Kokrajhar (Assam),March 8: A huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered by police from two different locations including Palashbari deep jungle area of Kokrajhar district during the last two days.
Police in Kokrajhar had intensified it’s search operations against illegal arms and anti social elements and subsequently the arms were concealed in the deep jungles of Palashbari area under Bagribari police station in Kokrajhar district were recovered in the last two days.
The arms included two UG gun, four magazine,16 nos hand grenades, 22 nos pressure bombs and several explosive materials.
However,no one arrests have been made in this regard and its is suspected that the arms belonged to former NDFB members which were kept buried.
Addressing the reporters today at a press conference held at SP office here , special DGP and in-charge IGP of BTR,Dr LR Bishnoi said that the huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered in last two days during the search operations in the district.
Bishnoi said that the concealed arms belonged to former NDFB militant outfit members.
He added that the police have stepped up action to recover the illegal arms and ammunition in the region and accordingly were successful in recovering the arms in the region.
SP Kokrajhar Prateek Thube said that during the last two years police recovered over hundred arms and ammunition from different places of the district and two persons were neutralised while ten of them were apprehended..
