Guwahati ( Assam) , June 24 : The Cabinet meeting held here today has decided that Home Guard Borsing Bey will be appointed as a Constable in the Assam Police as a reward for the integrity he has displayed by refusing bribe.
Bey had refused a huge bribe from drug dealers and helped recover drugs valued at Rs. 12 crore in Karbi Anglong.
Bey recovered the drugs from a Guwahati-bound night super bus bearing registration number MN06B-0511 at a check gate under Dilai Police Station.
Bey after checking the bus had asked the driver to open the bus engine and he put his hands inside the engine to recover the drugs .
The bus driver put huge amount of Rs . 500 notes in his pocket and pleaded to let the bus go .
Bey immediately informed his seniors and the trio were arrested and the drugs seized .
2 women from Tamil Nadu and one man from Manipur who tried to bribe him were also arrested .
Assam Police had already awarded him with a cash reward of Rs. 1 lakh for his honest and selfless act.
