Guwahati (Assam), Mar 31 : The state government has clarfied around 450 people from Assam took part in a religious congregation in Delhi’s Nizamuddin congregation from where six have already died and some others tested positive.
The State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered district officials to locate these individuals in they have returned and immediately quarantine them.
The minister said they would be tested tomorrow for the coronavirus.
The health department has also appealed to all to voluntarily report to the nearest public hospital or call the 104 helpline.
According to reports many have returned to Assam, but a few are still holed up in Nizamuddin area.
South Asia Views is in possession of a list of the attendees from Assam out of which 56 are from Hailakandi district and nine people who returned to Hailakandi on March 9 are in home quarantine.
Assam has reported one coronavirus cases so far Barak Valley and presently the patient is undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College , but there fear perception among the people after six people who attended the Nizamuddin congregation died of Covid-19 and some others tested positive.
