Kokrajhar (Assam),Oct 15: Within ten months of signing of the historic Bodoland Territorial Region( BTR) accord, a new body was formed on Thursday in Bodo belts to demand for a separate Bodoland State within the Indian constitution.
The new organization is headed by former Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary.
Expressing unhappiness over the BTR accord which was signed on Jan 27 last,former All Bodo Students Union leaders,workers and some civil society organizations formed the new body to keep alive the demand of a seperate Bodoland state within the Indian constitution.
The newly floated organization said that the recently signed BTR accord can not fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the Bodos.
The organization was formed today in Kokrajhar during the second special convention of the ex-ABSU leaders, workers and civil society organizations members from different districts of the state and West Bengal .
The newly floated organization would be known as All India Bodo People’s National League for Bodoland Statehood and would soon launch a democratic mass movement in support of their demand for a separate Bodo state.
The organization is headed by ex-Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary as president and general secretary Zebraram Mushahary along with 11 other executive members.
The body is also opposed to government’s move to grant ST status to the six ethnic communities in the state .
