Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 15 : Three more Covid deaths were reported in the state on Thursday taking the death toll to 73 .
The deceased have been identified as Jubita Thabah aged 65 years , Sagar Barua aged 82 years and Basuk Thabah aged 42 years .
In a surprising development, 2 inmates of Shillong District Jail tested Covid positive today after initially being cured last month. They were in contact with new Covid-19 patients lodged in the jail.
Today ,60 Catholic brothers of Mathias Institute, Xavier Juniorate and SHTC, Mawlai also tested Covid positive.
Meanwhile , 173 new Covid cases were detected in the state today taking the state tally to 8,164 .
Among the new cases today , 124 are from East Khasi Hills, 26 from West Garo Hills , 5 from Ri Bhoi , 5 from East Garo Hills , 4 from South Garo Hills, 4 from East Jaintia Hills, 4 from West Jaintia Hills and 1 from North Garo Hills .
A total of 64 patients were declared recovered today .
The active cases as of now stand at 2,455 after a total of 5,646 patients recovered .
