Williamnagar (Meghalaya), Aug 18: The medical superintendent of the Williamnagar Civil Hospital, R Debnath has clarified its position on the issue of the arrest of Dr Dolan R Marak, stating that the doctor was no longer associated with the hospital during his arrest.
Dr Marak was arrested a few days ago over allegations of illegal termination of pregnancy of a minor who was raped by her own brother in law. The arrest was made by the South Garo Hills (SGH) police who stated that incriminating evidence pointing to more such acts by the accused doctor were found during the investigation against him.
The doctor was arrested from the town of Williamnagar in East Garo Hills (EGH) following complaints by the victim who was forced to terminate her pregnancy by her alleged sexual predator with Dr Dolan being involved in the operation.
The victim belonged to the district of South Garo Hills.
In a letter today, Aug 18, Dr Debnath clarified that Dr Dolan had been transferred through a promotion to the Maternity and Child Hospital (MCH) in Tura, West Garo Hills (WGH) in the month of June.
“He has been released in June to enable him to join in his new place of service,” clarified Dr Debnath.
