Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 9: In a surprise move, the Meghalaya government has declared a school holiday on December 10, allowing students to attend the highly anticipated Bryan Adams concert at Polo Grounds in Shillong.
The decision, announced by the state’s Education Department, has sent waves of excitement among students and music lovers in the city. The concert, scheduled to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, is expected to draw a massive crowd, and the school holiday declaration is likely to swell the numbers.
“We are thrilled that the government has declared a school holiday for the Bryan Adams concert,” said Wanbok Diengdoh , a Class 11 student. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see our rock idol perform live, and we’re grateful to the government for making it possible.”
The Meghalaya government’s decision is seen as a nod to the state’s vibrant music culture, which has produced some of India’s most iconic rock bands. Shillong, in particular, has a thriving music scene, with numerous music festivals and concerts taking place throughout the year.
