Shillong (Meghalaya), May 8: Mishon SSCC grabbed the final pre-quarterfinal berth of the 5th Meghalaya State League Thursday, beating Lawbah SC 5-2 in a decisive Group F clash at Mairang.
Lawbah needed a big win to snatch second place, but Mishon killed the contest in 11 first-half minutes. Rekybart Ryntathiang opened in the 18th before Lawanphrang Kurbah and Banshimborlang Ryntathiang struck in the 26th and 29th for a 3-0 lead.
Lawbah pulled two back after the breakthrough Mebadonbor Shangpliang in the 62nd and Adonydevy Riwan in the 80th. Mishon replied both times, with Lawanphrang L Mawnai in the 66th and Stevenmark L Kynshi in the 82nd to seal the 5-2 win.
At Wahiajer, 2019 champions Shillong Lajong FC hit five past Lumphyrnai Sohphoh FC after a goalless first half. Badondor Marbaniang broke the deadlock in the 51st before a Colinsalmon Lyngdoh hat-trick in the 59th, 82nd and 87th minutes. Donboklang Kharjana added a fifth in the 80th.
Both sides had already sealed first and second in Group E before kickoff.
Lajong now meet Mishon in the pre-quarterfinals, while Lumphyrnai face Group F winners Langsning.
The last of 104 group games is Friday: Balmanduri FC take on toppers Janepih YSCA at 3 pm in Williamnagar.
