Kolkata (West Bengal), May 8 : Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari is all set to take oath as West Bengal Chief Minister on Saturday. The newly elected state BJP legislatures have unanimously elected him as their leader at a crucial meeting in Kolkata attended by Union home minister Amit Shah in the evening.
In his address to the new BJP MLAs at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, a visibly emotional Adhikari said that the time has come for West Bengal and its people to allay fear and have trust. He further promised a government focused on delivery, women’s safety and after all a “Sonar Bangla”.
He said, “We do not believe in mere words; the BJP believes in delivering through action. We speak less and work more.” He said, “I assure you that in the coming days, our government and organization will remain committed to the ideology of the party and to the cultural spirit of West Bengal. We will fulfil every promise made in our manifesto within the stipulated time.”
Notably, the BJP has ensured a historic victory in the recent assembly polls winning 207 seats in the 294-member House.
