Shillong (Meghalaya ) , June 7 : The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC), Shillong has taken cognizance of the case filed by the State President, Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress on the matter relating to the death of Late Ms. Manisha Turnia who was 24 weeks pregnant alleging the negligence and the over zealousness of the Hospital.
The nurse died due to Covid -19 complications on May 30.
Earlier , the state health department had clarified that the 32 – year- old nurse was not on Covid duty and had said that she did apply for any leave .
The Commission also registered a case filed by Yeahyea Hussain, the neighbour of the Miner trapped in Umpleng, East Jaintia Hills.
According to the Complainant the families of the Miners has also been denied to visit the incident spot .
In both the cases, the Commission has issued notice to the Chief Secretary, to submit a detailed report to the Commission within 10(days).
The Commission reminded the state of the Article 21 of the Constitution that states “No person shall be deprived of his/her life or personal liberty except according to procedure established by Law”.
