Shillong (Meghalaya), May 23 : Senior Editor , Varioustar Nongsiej passed away late on Friday night at Super Care Hospital here .
He was 52 years.
Late Nongsiej is survived by his wife Kwestina Warjri and his two children.
Bah Nongseij was suffering from various elements for the past two years and was admitted to Dispur Hospital in Guwahati .
He started his career in Khasi daily “U Peitngor” as a reporter and rose to the postion of the Editor of “Peitngor” till 2009.
He later joined as the Executive Editor of a Khasi daily ” Kynjatshai”.
Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma has condoled the the demise of the senior journalist Late Nongsiej.“He (Nongsiej) has displayed utmost professionalism with his factual and objective reporting. In his career spanning over two decades, he has worked in various capacities in the field of journalism including his service as Editor of Kynjatshai and U Peitngor.,” the CM said in his condolence message .
Leader of the Opposition Dr . Mukul Sangma in his condolence message said ,“I have lost a good friend. He has been a very resourceful member of the fourth estate in the state and has been instrumental in shaping and strengthening the vibrant press that we are proud of today. His contributions will be long cherished. I join the family, the relatives and friends in prayers.”
The Shillong Press Club in an emergent condolence meeting to paid rich tributes to the veteran journalist and senior member of the club. “His untimely demise is a huge lost to the press fraternity and the State as a whole,” the SPC stated in the condolence message.
IPR Minister, James PK Sangma said ,“Sad to learn that Senior Journalist Various S. Nongsiej had passed away on Friday after a brief illness.”
His funeral will be held on Sunday .
