Tura(Meghalaya) May 27: There was utter chaos when 2 employees of the GHADC were injured during the protests by the Non Gazzetted Employees Association (NGEA) here on Thursday , May 27 when the vehicle of an assistant accounts officer rammed over them.
The GHADC employees are on protest over the non payment of their salaries for the past 34 months with the office remaining closed .
However ,recently security personnel were deployed after which officers and MDCs have been attending office from this week.
NEGA members are complaining that some important files of the GHADC office have been removed by many officers for some manipulation.
In this connection ,an FIR was also filed by the NGEA members against some senior officers of the Civil Works department after they allegedly took files from the office to their homes.
Now with officers and MDCs back to the office, the NGEA feels that the files are once again being moved from the office .
Today the employees, in the presence of police personnel, had started checking vehicles of the officers and MDCs to see if any files were being taken away by them at around 4.30 pm when the office got over for the day .
According NGEA members ,the checking was being done without any disturbances or any vehicles being damaged.
However , when they came upon the vehicle of assistant accounts officer Glory, Hasting R Marak, he was questioned on an earlier case of file theft from the office on May 20 and wanted to know where the files were taken .
But Marak refused to pull down the windows of his car and didn’t answer their queries.
Instead he rammed his vehicle on 2 female employees, Tengsme and Merry, both of whom received minor injuries.
In an FIR filed at Tura PS , they said that Marak was trying to kill the protesting employees but they somehow they managed to escape but unfortunately two of the employees suffered injuries.
SP, West Garo Hill, Dr MGR Kumar said that the situation is under control and policemen have been deployed at the site .
Meanwhile , Police are investigating into the matter
