Tura (Meghalaya), July 16 : The Garo Labour Corps Day was observed with laying floral wreaths on the Cenotaph at Babupara, Tura along with Salami by 2nd MLP Batallion, Goeragre.

The day is commemorated to mark the safe arrival of the members of the Corps and in fond memory of those who died and performed noble work as recruits of the 69th Garo Labour Corps in France during the First World War.
Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, West Garo Hills , SP, Dr. M G R Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Tura Municipal Board, Rezia Ch Sangma, Chairman, TMB, J D Sangma were among others present at the Memorial Service.
