Shillong (Meghalaya ) , Dec 23 : A 68 -year old lady became the latest victim of Covid -19 in the state taking the death toll to 135 .
Narmaya Limbu (68), hailng from Happy Valley area was admitted to NEIGRIHMS on Dec 21 after losing consciousness. She had a history of Type 2 diabetes and hypertension. She was diagnosed tohave suffered a stroke with respiratory failure, septic shock and renal dysfunction and was tested positive for Covid-19.
After suffering two cardiac arrests she was declared dead on Tuesday evening. The cause of her death was septic shock with multi-organ failure, Covid-19 pneumonia, stroke, diabetes and hypertension.
On Wednesday 29 new Covid cases were detected in the state out which 24 were from East Khasi Hills . 3 new cases were detected from West Garo Hills while 1 case each was detected from South West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills .
A total of 159 patients were declared recovered today .
