Shillong (Meghalaya), April 24: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Cell, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, has apprehended a person identified as Simon Shylla, 30, from Umlyngka, for making anti-national comments on a Facebook account named “Man Shylla”.
The comments, which supported the recent Pahalgam terror attack and encouraged terrorists to target a particular community in the Northeast, were aired on Northeast Live News.
Based on information received from various quarters, the Special Cell tracked down Shylla to his residence and seized two mobile phones from his possession. A case has been registered against him at Lumdiengjri PS (Case No 421(04)2025 U/s 113(3)/196(1)(a)/147 BNS). Shylla will be produced in court tomorrow.
The arrest highlights the authorities’ swift action in tackling threats to national unity and integrity. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible social media usage and the consequences of spreading hate speech.
