Shillong (Meghalaya), July 9: A dramatic incident unfolded in Mawkisyiem, Sohra, when a man allegedly assaulted an individual, used abusive language, and exposed himself in public view. The accused, Getwin Jyrwa, is said to have threatened the victim and his clan, causing widespread fear and embarrassment among the local community.
According to the FIR lodged at Sohra Police Station on July 1, the incident occurred on June 28, 2025, at Mawap, Mawkisyiem. Despite being summoned twice by the Dorbar Shnong Mawkisyiem, Getwin Jyrwa failed to appear, prompting the police to take action.
A police team from Sohra PS attempted to apprehend Getwin Jyrwa on July 2, but he managed to flee before their arrival. Sohra Police Station Case No. 09/2025 has been registered under Sections 131/133/296(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The police are continuing their investigation and are working to bring the accused to justice. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and many are calling for swift action to ensure public safety and uphold the law.
