Shillong (Meghalaya), July 9: In a significant move to propel Meghalaya’s organic agriculture sector, the Meghalaya Natural and Organic Society for Livelihood and Innovation in Agriculture (MEGNOLIA) has facilitated a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Mother India Farms and Tomonpo Anglong Organic Farmers Producer Company Ltd.
The partnership aims to integrate the state’s premium organic produce, including the renowned Kew variety pineapples, into national and global supply chains.
Nearly 300 registered farmers from Ri-Bhoi district, who cultivate pineapples across six villages, are set to benefit from this initiative. The agreement is expected to empower farmer-led growth, enhance the livelihoods of local farmers, and strengthen Meghalaya’s position as a leader in organic agriculture. With this strategic partnership, the state is poised to take a significant leap towards realizing its vision of promoting sustainable agriculture practices and achieving national recognition.
