Shillong(Meghalaya), April 15: Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Smt Savitri Thakur, held a series of high-level meetings in Shillong to review the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Programmes in Meghalaya. The meetings aimed to strengthen the delivery of services under flagship schemes such as Poshan Abhiyan, Mission Shakti, and Mission Vatsalya.
During the review meeting with senior officials of Meghalaya’s Social Welfare Department, Smt Thakur emphasized the need for enhancing service delivery mechanisms at the grassroots level, particularly in Anganwadi Centres. She highlighted critical areas that require attention, including the provision of regular and high-quality supplementary nutrition.
The Minister’s visit to Meghalaya is part of a three-day tour to assess the implementation of government welfare programmes focused on women and child development. She will inspect key centers, including One Stop Center and Shakti Sadan, and review development projects under MGNREGA and PMAY(G).
Smt Thakur’s review meetings demonstrate the government’s commitment to empowering women and children in Meghalaya. The discussions will help identify areas for improvement and inform strategies to enhance the effectiveness of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the state.
