Shillong ( Meghalaya), May 2 : In a robust enforcement operation yesterday at the Laitumkhrah police checkpoint, EKH District authorities deployed 30 traffic officers and 15 SOT personnel to curb road violations. Local leaders from Laitumkhrah Durbar, including Rangbah Shnong and Rangbah Dong, lent their support and urged for these drives to be held regularly.
The crackdown yielded fines totaling around ₹1.5 lakh. Officers detected numerous cases of drunk driving and several vehicles sporting illegal modifications. In a dangerous incident, a scooty rider attempted to flee and struck at UBC SM Sangma; authorities have initiated legal proceedings against the individual.
EKH District officials affirmed their commitment to ongoing operations aimed at ensuring safer, more secure streets for all residents.
