Shillong(Meghalaya) , May 02 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today cut the ribbon on the state-of-the-art Umlyngka Indoor Stadium and revamped football ground, marking a ₹3.57 crore investment in Meghalaya’s athletic future. Flanked by local leaders Ronnie V. Lyngdoh and Hamletson Dohling, Sangma hailed the facility as an investment in youth development, character building and community well-being.
Part of a larger ₹25 crore sports infrastructure push in the Mylliem constituency, the new arena will host training sessions, competitions and community events—encouraging young athletes to balance studies with sport ahead of National Games 2027. Special grants were also announced to support local performance groups, reinforcing Meghalaya’s status as a grassroots sports power.
