Shillong ( Meghalaya) , July 14 : The two- day total lockdown has helped in containing the Covid cases in the city and would end on Wednesday morning .
Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong informed that total lockdown in Shillong would end on Wednesday morning and would not continue as the situation has improved in the last two days of the total lockdown period.
Only 3 Covid cases were reported on Tuesday .
He said the decision not to continue with the total lockdown as the contact tracing of the 41 wedding attendees has completed.
Earlier, 41 persons from Shillong had attended the wedding at Greenwood Resort in Guwahati on June 27 and held a reception in Shillong on July 2.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War informed that three new positive cases have been confirmed on Tuesday, taking the total active cases to 270 which include 236 in East Khasi Hills district alone including 179 BSF personnel.
In total, there are 318 cases including 46 persons who have recovered and two who died due to infection.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma tweeted the figures ,”Total Active Cases 270 .Total BSF- 186
Total Non BSF- 84 .Recovered- 46.”
Meanwhile, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Matsiewdor War on Tuesday, filed an FIR before the SP of EKH, Sylvester Nongtnger against the 41 people who had attended the wedding ceremony at Greenwood Resort, Khanapara on June 27.
A case has been registered at Sadar police station under the appropriate section of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, Epidemic Disease Act, 1897, and Meghalaya Epidemic Disease COVID-19 Regulation, 2020.
