New Delhi, June 6: Thousands of people, mostly youth, gathered at Jantar Mantar on Saturday for a mega protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party, pressing five demands led by the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG paper leak.
Joined by Ladakh climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, the demonstrators also called for digitalization of the education sector only after proper training, restoration of normalcy in Manipur’s education system, fairness in competitive exams, greater focus on issues affecting students and parents, and stronger attention to students’ mental health.
Protesters raised slogans including “Dharmendra Pradhan Istifa do” and “We asked for Make in India, you gave us Leak in India.”
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke arrived in Delhi from Boston and went straight to Parliament Street to secure permission for the protest. Hundreds of supporters received him at Indira Gandhi International Airport as he carried a copy of Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s autobiography. In a post on X, CJP said Delhi Police had granted permission to assemble directly at Jantar Mantar and declared, “Cockroaches aa rahe hain, Dharmendra Pradhan jaa rahe hain.”
Delhi Police on duty detained dozens of youths who arrived at the site and began raising slogans against CJP.
