Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 23 : In a significant operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier apprehended 13 Bangladeshi nationals involved in smuggling activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border on Sunday . Dec 22 . The operation, conducted based on specific intelligence, resulted in the seizure of 35 bags of sugar and other contraband items worth ₹10.50 lakh.
The seized items included liquor, tea, copper wire, local cigarettes, skin cream, blankets, garlic, and other edible items. The apprehended individuals were handed over to Dawki Police Station, West Jaintia Hills District, for further legal action after a medical examination at PHC Dawki.
The special operations were conducted at various locations in the East Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, and South Garo Hills districts. This operation highlights the BSF’s efforts to curb smuggling activities along the border and maintain national security.
