Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 26 : Kisen Wanniang, a 15-year-old from Meghalaya, has been awarded the esteemed Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for his remarkable bravery. His selfless act of rescuing four children aged 9-12 from the Maweitksar River during heavy rains, disregarding his own safety, has earned him this prestigious recognition.
The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is India’s highest civilian honor for children, awarded annually to recognize exceptional achievements in seven categories.
President Droupadi Murmu conferred the award to Kisen and 16 other children at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, praising their extraordinary work and incomparable qualities.
