Shillong(Meghalaya), April 22 : The Department of Paediatric Cardiology and Paediatric Cardiac Surgery of Apollo Children’s Hospital, Chennai & Apollo Hospitals Guwahati is joining hands with the Directorate of Health Services and Family Welfare, Meghalaya to reach out to poor children requiring life saving heart surgery.
Speaking to media here , the Head of the Department of Paediatric Interventional Cardiology Dr C.S. Muthukumaran, who addressed a press conference along with the Unit Head of Apollo Hospital, Guwahati, Dr. Abhijit Singh said the programme will now be extended to Meghalaya.
Dr. Muthukumaran also informed that under this programme, Free Cardiac Screening Camp would be conducted for children between the age of 0 to 16 year suffering from cardiac issues causing breathlessness, loss of appetite, excessive sweating, failure to gain weight, body turning bluish, shivering would be conducted once every two months.
Dr. Muthukumaran informed that during the Free Cardiac Screening Camp held in Shillong, fifteen cardiac patients have been identified, out of which three simple cases will be treated at Apollo Hospitals Guwahati and the other complicated cases will be treated at Apollo Hospital Chennai
