Shillong (Meghalaya), Aug 7 : A total of 51 new Covid cases were detected in the state on Thursday taking the total number of cases have moved to 990 .
The active cases as of now stand at 640 after a total of 345 patients were discharged after recovery .
Out of the total 51 new cases a police personnel stationed at Mawiong who was a primary contact of a colleague tested positive in Klerihat in East Jaintia Hills. A tea vendor at Khyndailad in Shillong who had influenza like like symptoms was sent to Woodland Hospital from where she was sent to Nazareth Hospital and her samples finally tested positive NEIGRIHMS.
Some ward boys from Civil Hospital , Shillong and NEIGRIHMS and a pharmacist from Civil Hospital , 7 personnel from BSF ,3 from the Armed Forces also tested positive .
From East Khasi Hills all the 14 new cases are BSF jawans. From West Jaintia Hills a cotact of positive person , Ri Bhoi recorded 19 new cases , which includes 15 from Armed Forces , 3 returnees , and 1 from Byrnihat cluster.
A total of 6 patients were discharged on Thursday after full recovery .
