Shillong (Meghalaya) ,Sept 30: 4 more Covid patients succumbed to their infections in Shillong taking the death toll in the state to 51 .
The patients who succumbed to their infections have been identified as 72-year-old MD Salim, a resident of Mawbah area who passed away at the Nazareth hospital here .The patient was brought to the Nazareth hospital in a critical state while he was gasping and was immediately taken to the isolation ward and all efforts were put to revive him but passed away at 1.40 am. His samples were tested to be Covid -19 positive .
74-year-old Minati Chakraborty of Laban Last-stop area who was declared brought dead at Bethany hospital at 3.05 am and was a cancer patient, 68 -year -old Dran Lyngkhoi hailing from Smit Raplem, died at the Civil hospital here at 2.20 am on Wednesday . Ms .Chakraborty, who also tested Covid positive and had history of flu like illness and gastroenteritis for past three days and was on self-medication at home . She was also known case of type-II diabetes mellitus and hypertension .Dran Lyngkhoi was suffering from cancer and was found to be positive on September 27. He was shifted to the COVID Unit of the civil hospital, here and succumbed to his infections on Wednesday.
59 -old – Donia Khyriem was found to be COVID-19 positive on being admitted at the Dr H Gordon Robert hospital here on Sept 18 and passed away on September 28, due to COVID-19 with acute respiratory distress syndrome, cerebrovascular accident and intracranial hemorrhage.
Meanwhile , DHS (MI) Dr. A War said that 176 new cases including 113 from East Khasi Hills district, ( all civilians) 30 from West Garo Hills district( 6 from Armed Forces 24 civilians ), 18 from Ri Bhoi, 11 from South West Garo Hills and 1 each from, North Garo Hills, East Garo Hills, South West Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills districts were detected on Wednesday .
A total of 37 patients were declared recovered on Wednesday .
So far ,swab samples of 1,50,809 persons have been sent for testing out of which 1,45,170 samples tested negative.
The state has registered a total of 5,641 COVID 19 cases out of which, 1,615 are active, and 3,975 recoveries and 51 deaths .
