Shillong (Meghalaya), Sept 17 : 3 more critically ill Covid patients succumbed to their infections today here taking the death toll to 31 .
According to DHS (MI) , Dr . A War , the 3 patients have been identified as Tiwani Thapa aged 74 years from Barapathar locality , Lawrence Lynkhoi aged 72 years from Shyiap and Diwanti Thapa aged 60 years hailing from Mawbah .
Meanwhile , 161 new cases were detected in the state on Thursday taking the state tally to 4,357 . The active cases stand at 1,983 and the rest of the patients were discharged after recovery .
Among the new cases today , East Khasi Hills District reported 105 cases which includes 103 general public and 3 from the Armed Forces , West Garo Hills reported 12 new cases which includes 6 from the Armed Forces and 6 from General public , East Jaintia Hills reported 28 new cases , Ri Bhoi District 9 cases , South West Garo Hills 3 cases , East Garo Hills 3 cases and 1 each from South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills .
A total of 78 patients were discharged after recovery .
