Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Sept 17: President of Bodoland People’s Front(BPF) Hagrama Mohilary on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed Hagrama Auditorium at BPF party office in Kokrajhar .
The Hagrama Auditorium has been constructed by BPF to facilitate various activities of the party members.
Mohilary, who is the former chief of BTC administration inaugurated the auditorium which has been named after him for his contribution to party and bold leadership in the Bodoland Territorial Council region for past 17 years.
“BPF has decided to dedicate the Hagrama Auditorium named after Hagrama Mohilary as a mark respect to him and for leading the party and the BTC council ” , said a senior BPF party leader.
Ealier , the Rowmari Bridge over the Aie River in Chirang district which connects Chapaguri to Koilamoila has been named Hagrama Bridge to honour the BPF president Hagrama Mohilary.
The Hagrama Bridge is a popular picnic spot and the annual Dwijing festival is held every year .
Hagrama Mohilary reigned the BTC council as chief since 2003 after signing the historic BTC(Bodoland Territorial Council) accord.The BTC accord was signed after tripartite Bodo peace talks between centre,state and former leaders of Bodo Liberation Tigers.
Mohilary has been holding the position of BTC chief after winning majority of the seats in the council elections for three terms .
On Thursday around 200 new members from different parties and organizations joined the BPF in the presence of BPF president Hagrama Mohilary and several senior party leaders .
BPF president Mohilary expressed his confidence of winning majority of the seats to form the next BTC council for fourth consecutive term in BTC administration.
He expressed confidence that BPF would be voted to the power with majority seats as they have the support of the common masses .
He has alleged that UPPL president Pramod Boro is misleading the Bodo community as well other communities during his tenure as the ABSU president.
He leveled charges against the UPPL president Pramod Boro and ABSU stating that they objected against Bengali and Muslim communities during the NRC process besides opposing grant of ST status to the Koch Rajbongshi and Adivasis in the state.
“On what ground,UPPL party is trying to provide financial support to the Self Help Groups, he questioned .The UPPL never thinks in terms of welfare and development for the citizens in the region and no one is going to support UPPL during the BTC elections”, Mohilary said.
On the proposed journalists welfare Initiative of UPPL , Mohilary said that UPPL president Pramod Boro’s assurance to provide welfare Initiatives to the journalists of BTAD region but in reality nothing is going to happen in near future.
However , UPPL president Pramod Boro has denied all the allegations leveled against him by the BPF president Mohilary as he wanted to spoil the bright prospects of the party.
Boro said that Mohilary’s remark and allegations are baseless in today’s hour and added that BPF is fearing a massive defeat in the ensuing BTC council elections and as a last resort Mohilary is indulging in unnecessary remarks before the common masses against UPPL to woo voters in their favour .
He said that UPPL has been working for the welfare and development for all communities in the region and accordingly his party is receiving massive support in the council region.
He said that the UPPL is always ready to ensure massive development through the spirit of BTR accord(Bodoland Territorial Region) which will pave way for healthy development and integration in the region.
Boro alleged that BPF has failed to work for the welfare and development of the the citizens in their 17 years of rule in BTAD region and now the party chief and the leaders are indulging in unnecessary remarks against the UPPL .
Boro assured to implement the promises and assurances enlisted in their party manifesto including welfare initiatives for the journalists if they voted to the power in the ensuing BTC general elections.
