Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 9 : RTI Activist Dispasing Rani today informed that the Sericulture & Weaving, Government of Meghalaya does not have a direct system of filling up of vacant posts.
He said this Department which plays a vital role for the preservation of culture of the indigenous communities by producing Muga and Khadi dresses is having only one Joint Director to look after the entire state, which is humanly impossible.
Addressing the media at Shillong Press Club, Rani said that the information that he collected through RTI revealed in the Sericulture & Weaving Department there are 200 vacancies which are to be filled by the state Government.
He also informed that there are 885 employees in this department with very few officers to run it.
While referring to the PHE Department, he said that it is surprising to know that the Superintending Engineer is holding three posts, which deprives the other of their rightful promotion.
He also said that all these irregularities occur in the Government’s Department due to lack of Service Rules and preparation of Gradation List of the employees.
