Shillong ( Meghalaya ), June 24 : India Navy divers along with NDRF and SDRF teams retrieved one more body of a miner from Krem Ule in Umpleng today .
The body was retrieved from the main shaft of the mine .
One body was retrieved on June 12 and three more bodies are still trapped inside the mine.
5 miners from Assam and Tripura , involved in illegal rat-hole mining in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district, were feared trapped inside a coal mine after it collapsed on May 30 .
As per eye witness account due to the sudden explosion of dynamite, 5 persons got trapped due to the sudden rush of water into the mine. Within no time the mine was inundated.
Rescue operations are on by the NDRF , SDRF, Navy to retrieve the remaining three bodies .
Despite informing the relatives of the victims in Assam and Tripura to identify the bodies no one has come forward for the identification of the bodies .
Coal mining is banned in Meghalaya due to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) ban on the activity in state since 2014.
