Shillong, Nov 4: Shillong just got a taste of the whole state under one roof.
Agriculture Minister Timothy D. Shira on Wednesday opened the first Meghalaya Collectives Store in Meghalaya, below Dylan’s Café, a one-stop shop for everything grown, made and crafted by the state’s farmers, SHGs, cooperatives and artisans.
From farm produce to handmade crafts, the store is Meghalaya’s own brand going local after making a mark in Delhi and on Amazon.
Shira said the state has already linked over 2,100 tonnes of farm produce to markets worth around Rs 22 crore, and this store is the next big leap — giving village makers a real shop, real buyers and repeat orders.
In a big boost, Meghalaya Collectives also tied up with Organic Mandya to put Meghalaya products on shelves in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with the makers’ names and stories proudly displayed.
The store is open daily, 10 am to 10 pm.
