Shillong, Oct 16: Nongkseh stunned unbeaten SPL champions Mawlai 1-0 to enter the SSA Super Cup 2026 final at SSA Stadium today.
Banraplang Pyngrope headed the winner in the 47th minute off Hardy Cliff Nongbri’s free kick.
It was revenge for Nongkseh’s 1-0 loss to Mawlai in the SPL on Sept 2 and ended Mawlai’s unbeaten run this season.
Mawlai had the first chance in the 4th minute but Nongkseh keeper Daraphun Talang denied them, while Chesterpaul Lyngdoh’s bicycle kick was saved by Lambhamiki Lamare at the other end. Dawanchwa Challam hit the upright before the break.
After the goal, Mawlai dominated but missed chances, with Jestibor Mawlong skying over in the 78th minute and Basuklang Bina denied twice in seven minutes of added time as Nongkseh defended with all 10 men.
Banraplang was named Player of the Match. Nongkseh will face the winner of Shillong Lajong vs Meghalaya Police tomorrow.
