New Delhi, June 1: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday lobbied Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda for support to expand medical infrastructure and sought the Vice President’s guidance on the state’s growth push.
In his meeting with Nadda, Sarma credited the Union Minister’s tenure as BJP president for bolstering the party in Assam and flagged projects including new medical colleges, increased MBBS seats and proton beam therapy to position Assam as a medical tourism destination.
Earlier, Sarma briefed Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Assam’s development initiatives, describing him as “an epitome of humility, hard work and dedication”. The outreach comes as the state accelerates infrastructure and investment plans to emerge as a key economic centre in the Northeast.
