Chennai (Tamil Nadu), May 05: A day after his party won 108 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President C. Joseph Vijay on Tuesday wrote to Governor Rajendra Arlekar to stake claim to form the government in the state.
In his letter, Vijay has sought an appointment with the Governor to formally stake the claim to form the Government. He further urged the Raj Bhawan to give him at least 15 days to probe his majority. seeking an appointment and requesting an opportunity to prove.
He hoped that he would receive an invitation from the Raj Bhawan to clear the formalities to form the Government.
He wrote, “We are the single largest party with 108 legislators and have the right to form the government. We request an opportunity to demonstrate our majority.”
TVK falls short of 10 seats to touch the magic marks, and he has been in touch with a few likeminded parties seeking support. AIADMK and Congress both are reportedly in touch with TVK leadership to form the Government.
According to sources, Vijay might get the consent from the Raj Bhawan to garner support to prove his majority in a day or two. On the other hand, the party is likely to name him as the leader of legislative body on Wednesday
