Shillong (Meghalaya), May 04: BJP Meghalaya on Sunday hailed the party’s wins in West Bengal and Assam as a “momentous” rejection of fear, appeasement and criminal politics, saying voters had aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat.
In a press statement, the state unit paid tributes to Syama Prasad Mookerjee, saying his dream of an inclusive Bengal and India “finds realisation today.” It also remembered “hundreds of BJP workers” who died in Bengal, calling their sacrifice an inspiration for cadres nationwide.
Terming the Bengal result a victory of “trust over fear,” the party said people had rejected infiltration encouragement, syndicates, cut money and criminal politics. It criticized the TMC and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for creating “drama” over SIR, despite its peaceful rollout in twelve states, and said the opposition should now realise “negative politics and lies no longer work.”
The statement credited central forces for delivering Bengal’s “first peaceful election,” noting the state’s average election death toll had been seventy-five until now.
BJP Meghalaya also congratulated party workers and leaders in Assam on a third consecutive term, saying “good governance and people-friendly measures trump propaganda each time.” It claimed the Christian community in Assam voted for the BJP in large numbers, calling it a trend likely to reflect in Meghalaya during the 2028 elections.
Taking aim at the Congress, the party called it “Rahul Gandhi and Congress’s ninety-ninth defeat” and said “some serious introspection is perhaps necessary.”
Marking the victories, State President Rikman G Momin cut a cake with party karyakartas in Dalu Mandal, West Garo Hills District. Momin also met families from the Dalu community who are facing land issues linked to the international boundary problem. The community, now below 3,000 in population, continues to shrink, which the party called a cause for concern. Momin assured that he will take up the land rights issue with the central government to ensure the Dalu community’s rights are upheld.
The statement congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and National President Nitin Nabin on the victories.
