Shillong(Meghalaya), April 26 : Teara Ianchi D. Sangma has brought laurels to Meghalaya after being awarded the prestigious CCRT Junior Scholarship in Bharatanatyam by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Teara becomes the first Garo girl to receive the honour, marking a milestone for tribal representation in Indian classical dance. She is currently training at Gitanjali Dance Academy, here.
The scholarship recognises young talent in the field of culture and provides support to students pursuing traditional art forms. Teara’s achievement breaks new ground for tribal youth in Meghalaya and is expected to inspire many to embrace and preserve the state’s diverse cultural heritage through classical arts.
