Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 22 : The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Shillong marked a major milestone, celebrating its 40th Foundation Day at the Umsawli, Mawpat campus in Meghalaya. The event was graced by Smt. Daphiralin Kharjana, Managing Director of Meghalaya Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd., as the Chief Guest.
The celebrations included a tree plantation drive, sports activities, a rangoli competition, cultural programs, and the inauguration of the “NIFT Timeline Wall,” showcasing the institute’s journey over four decades. Dr. Brijesh Deore, Director (I/c) of NIFT, reiterated the institute’s commitment to continued growth and excellence in fashion education.
NIFT Shillong has been a hub for fashion education and innovation, with a focus on preserving and promoting traditional craftsmanship. The institute has been working closely with local artisans and stakeholders to create a platform for showcasing Northeast India’s rich cultural heritage.
