Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 27: The 67th Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan was celebrated in Shillong, bringing together renowned musicians from across Meghalaya for a musical evening. The event, organized by Akashvani Shillong at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), showcased regional folk music and highlighted Akashvani’s commitment to preserving India’s rich musical traditions.
Celebrated folk artists Silbi Passah, Khorsha Kordor Marbaniang, and Louvre Venus R. Marak enthralled the audience with soothing vocals and traditional instruments. Bands like Na Rympei and Colours, along with Gwyneth A. Mawlong, presented their signature styles, drawing in the crowd.
Dr. Lapynshai Syiem, Head of the Department of Cultural Studies and Creative Arts, NEHU, praised Akashvani Shillong for nurturing local talent and providing a platform for independent artists. Shri Hamarlin Diengdoh, Cluster Head & Regional Channel Manager, Akashvani Shillong, emphasized the event’s role in celebrating India’s rich musical heritage.
The 67th edition of Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan is presented by Prasar Bharati in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, taking place across 24 centers nationwide. The event features two concerts at each venue, one dedicated to Indian Classical Music and the other to Light/Folk Music, reflecting India’s regional musical diversity. The performances will be broadcast nationwide on the Akashvani Network from December 26, 2025, to January 23, 2026.
