Shillong (Meghalaya), Sep 5: The Directorate of School Education and Literacy celebrated its 64th State Level Teachers’ Day celebration at the U Soso Tham Auditorium here. Governor C.H. Vijayashankar graced the occasion as the chief guest and presented prestigious State Awards to 12 outstanding teachers from across all districts of Meghalaya.
The awardees were recognized for their exceptional contributions to education and community service. They included Reynold Basaiawmoit, Dafrit Nongkynrih, Firemoris Marngar, Sr. Cicilia Kujur, Sengman Sangma, Diamond Paswet, Tasiana Kymphat, Sukanta Bhattacharjee, Aswini Kumar Sarma, Maximus M. Kujur, Alithson G. Momin, and Purida I. Sangma.
In his address, Governor Vijayashankar highlighted the pivotal role teachers play in shaping responsible citizens and emphasized the importance of effective education policies. He also launched a video awareness campaign on IFC tablets under the PM POSHAN scheme, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving education infrastructure and resources in the state.
The ceremony was attended by teachers from across Meghalaya, who gathered to celebrate their profession and recognize the outstanding achievements of their peers. The event served as a testament to the dedication and hard work of teachers in Meghalaya, who strive to provide quality education to students despite the challenges posed by the state’s rugged terrain and diverse socio-economic landscape.
