Shillong (Meghalaya), Aug 5: The Meghalaya High Court, comprising Chief Justice I.P. Mukerji and Justice W. Diengdoh, has directed that copies of a Special Officer’s report on the relocation of vendors in Shillong’s Khyndailad area be circulated to all appearing lawyers by Aug 6. The report was submitted by Senior Advocate Subhasis Chakrawarty, who was appointed to oversee the exercise.
The court noted that the relocation exercise was peaceful and successful, but concerns were raised by the Shillong Roadside Hawkers’ Association that some eligible vendors had not received certificates of vending. The Special Officer forwarded these concerns to the Chief Executive Officer of the Shillong Municipal Board, who assured the court that a proper response would be filed in the form of an affidavit.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for Aug13 and directed that copies of the response affidavit to be filed by the Shillong Municipal Board by Aug 11, be circulated to the parties.
