Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 6: In a significant move to boost healthcare accessibility, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma launched the PIMC Health Shuttle initiative today. This innovative program, introduced by P.A. Sangma International Medical College & Hospital (PIMC), aims to provide pre-hospital transportation for patients and their attendants, bridging the gap in healthcare services, particularly in rural and urban areas.
Speaking at the launch event, Chief Minister Sangma praised PIMC’s efforts, saying, “This initiative is a unique and much-needed effort by PIMC. Despite the challenges, the institution has taken proactive steps to improve healthcare accessibility. The Health Shuttle service will benefit not only rural communities but also strengthen the healthcare network in Shillong and beyond.”
The Health Shuttle program is designed to provide better access to medical facilities, ensuring timely and efficient transportation for patients. This initiative is a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services in Meghalaya, aligning with the state’s goal of improving healthcare accessibility and outcomes.
Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, also attended the launch event, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in strengthening Meghalaya’s healthcare system.
