Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 6: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly met today to finalize the calendar for the upcoming Budget Session 2025. The meeting, held at the Office Chamber of Speaker Thomas A. Sangma, was attended by top officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and Leader of the Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma.
According to the finalized schedule, the 10-day Budget Session will commence on February 28, and conclude on March 13 . The session will have three days allocated for Private Members’ Business and seven days for Government Business.
Speaker, Thomas A. Sangma assured that the session will provide ample time for participation and discussion, and if required, the session can be extended, even on Fridays.
In addition to finalizing the budget session calendar, the meeting also discussed the progress of the new Assembly building construction. The Speaker provided an update on the project’s status, indicating that it is on track.
The Budget Session 2025 is expected to be a crucial one, with the state government set to present its budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
