Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 15: A devastating accident occurred today, January 15, when a Tata Sumo traveling from Guwahati to Silchar skidded off the road and plummeted into a deep gorge near Rattachera Police check post on NH6.
The driver and one female passenger tragically lost their lives on the spot, while two other female passengers were critically injured.

In a remarkable display of promptness and bravery, troops from 172 Bn, BSF Meghalaya, sprang into action, conducting a challenging rescue operation to evacuate the survivors from the gorge.
The injured individuals received immediate medical attention at a nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) before being transferred to Silchar Civil Hospital for further treatment.
