Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 30: Despite a valiant effort from Kshitij Singhania, who scored an impressive 94 not out, Meghalaya’s U-19 men’s cricket team suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Baroda in the Cooch Behar Trophy at the MCA Ground in Polo here today.
Kshitij’s 170-ball innings, which included 14 fours and a six, was the highlight of Meghalaya’s second innings, as they recovered from a precarious 5/3 to post a total of 213. However, this was nowhere near enough to challenge Baroda’s massive first innings score of 608/6.
The loss marks a disappointing end to Meghalaya’s campaign in the tournament. Nevertheless, Kshitij’s impressive performance is a silver lining, and a testament to the young talent emerging from the state.
